Turtle Back Systems

Over the months of March and April 2017, a small group of Willow Park grade nine math learners and a group of First Nations learners from Ernest Morrow Middle School gathered together over a series of four visits to explore math from a First Nations perspective.

The ongoing work involved with this effort is housed on a blog titled Turtle Back Systems that can be viewed here.

Below are some early explorations of grade nine math connections to First Nations' culture.

After Lee Deranger created Dreamcatchers with our grade nines, these slides were designed to connect dreamcatchers with circle geometry.


And a following one was developed based on some traditional symbols.
